iKon Open Comb

It has been over a month since I have used the iKon open comb. I abandoned it for the slant. This razor provides an easy and comfortable shave. Aided by TOBS Lavender and finished with Skin Bracer. What a way to start the day.

Gillette One Piece Tech Milord Model

Back to the Gillette one piece Tech Razor, Milord model, as Gillette called it.

My razor has seen prettier days, but it still shaves like new.

TOBS Lavender and Clubman Classic Vanilla on the start and finish.

Finally getting the chance to try the Schick Krona. This one is an early version with the metal tip.

A great close shave. I will be able to really judge the closeness this evening.

The razor is light weight, mild, efficient and easy to use.

A great start with TOBS Lavender soap and a great finish with Brisk aftershave.

Gillette Black Handle Super Speed

•Brut Dominant aftershave

A big jump from 1940 to 1971. The SuperSpeed was among the most ubiquitous of the Gillette DE line. By 1971, this could have been my first razor.

Easy to load, easy to use and easy to clean.

A great shave with the SuperSpeed and the Gillette 7 o'clock Platinum blade.

The TOBS Lavender produced a thick lather with a calming scent.

Finishing with Brut Dominant. The scent reminds me of Grey Flannel. It is probably too strong of a scent for work, so I am using it on weekends.

Milord

Another great shave with the Milord. Just a tad more aggressive than a Superspeed. Not as aggressive as a red tip.

I don't actively collect TTO razors, yet I have acquired quite a few, spanning 30 years or so.


Lavender is my favorite scent for soap. I have the TOBS and a refill for the DR Harris bowl.

Now to the finish. Dry Lime is a discontinued scent. Wonderful citrus scent.

Gillette New Improved Grandpa's Razor

Today would have been my Grandfather's 114 birthday,and I am shaving with his razor. I have had this razor since 1974, and it was the beginning of my collection and my love for old razors and wet shaving.

The New Improved was Gillettes first major redesign of the double edged razor. Introduced in 1921, my razor is a Tuckaway, a travel razor with a short handle and a metal case which would fit easily in a pocket or a shaving kit.

As always, the TOBS Lavender produces a great lather, and I love the scent.

The Astra blade is one of my go to blades and it pairs well with the New Improved.

Clubman provided a great finish to this shave.

Shaving with Grandpa's razor is a great way to remember him. Grandpa, you are still missed.

EverReady 1914

The Everready 1914 is a sort of mini lather catcher. My razor is a travel set. It gives a close shave, about as aggressive as the 1912. The cap flips open to reveal the blade. The hinge is opposite the blade edge.

The TOBS Lavender is one of my favorite soaps.

Pinaud Clubman is a great way to end a shave and start the day.
